Sarah Tincher Quotes Transcribed

Sarah Tincher:

First Clip:
“Journalism is really important to the public. Everyone bashes the media and talks crap about it and says all these things that we’re ruining this and doing terrible things to people, whatever. But in reality, what would we do without journalism? How would we get our news, how would we know anything is going on? We wouldn’t. So I think it’s invaluable.”

Second Clip:
“Some challenges are definitely having to have a broader skill set. You really can’t just focus on one thing anymore. You can’t just be a videographer. You can’t just be a writer anymore. You have to be everything because it’s really competitive.”

Third Clip:
“There will be jobs but I think it’s moving, it’s not what it used to be. Journalism isn’t just writing for a newspaper anymore, it’s going to be online writing for the most part and I know a lot of publications aren’t going to be print anymore by the time I really get a reporting job but there’s still going to be jobs there. Journalism isn’t going anywhere.”
