On March 14th Ronny Edry, a husband, father,
graphic designer and citizen of Israel, posted an image on Facebook. It read,
“Iranians. We love you. We will never bomb your country.”
What started as a simple post on Facebook is now a growing
campaign with almost 2 million weekly views, according to the Edry’s blog.
I first heard of this campaign from a new friend of mine, a
transfer student from France. Immediately I looked it up online and found
articles on CNN and The Huffington Post.
I was amazed by how fast the campaign has traveled around the world.
Along with the image, Edry posted a video in which he
stated, “I'm not an official representative of my country. I'm a father and a
teacher. I know the streets of my town, I talk with my neighbors, my family, my
students, my friends and in the name of all these people …we love you.”
On the Facebook page you can find hundreds of photos with graphics that say,
“Not ready to die in your war,” and other anti-war statements.
Even though Edry is not a professional journalist, he is a
citizen journalist who uses multimedia to inform the public.
I believe this is a great example of multimedia journalism
for Edry was able to declare a message of love between two countries that are
at the brink of war.
